Youth Workforce Development Initiative

Youth Workforce Development Initiative

When a young person walks into our Youth Workforce Development Initiative, we don't just hand them a flyer and wish them luck. We sit beside them, ask about their dreams, and start building a practical path from classroom to paycheck.

Through hands-on career training, technical workshops, and resume and interview coaching, Somali and East African youth gain real skills that employers look for today. One young man told us, "I went from not knowing where to start to getting my first job offer in three months." That is the kind of change we aim for.

We bring in mentors who share the same language, faith, and migration stories, so youth see role models who look like them and understand family responsibilities back home. Leadership activities, volunteering, and group projects help them grow confidence while giving back to their own community.

Whether a student is interested in trades, healthcare, tech, or starting a small business, we help them map out clear next steps and connect with training, internships, and employers. Families see their sons and daughters contributing income, building skills, and standing taller. Supporters see their contributions turning into steady jobs, stronger households, and future leaders for our community.
