Peacebuilding and Reconciliation Efforts

Our Peacebuilding and Reconciliation Efforts were shaped by elders who sat with us and said, "If our hearts are not at peace, nothing else will last." We took those words seriously and built a program that makes space for honest conversation, even when it is painful.

We bring together elders, youth, women, religious leaders, and local authorities from communities affected by conflict. In these gatherings, people share memories of loss, fear, and also of the days when neighbors supported each other. Trained facilitators from within our own culture guide discussions so that everyone feels heard, not judged.

From these dialogues grow community agreements: steps to prevent revenge attacks, ways to share scarce resources fairly, and plans to support families returning after displacement. We also run leadership sessions for young people, teaching conflict resolution skills so they can become bridges rather than barriers.

Over time, we have seen former rivals sit on the same mat, drink tea, and plan joint projects. When a mother tells us, "I can finally let my children walk outside without fear," we know peace is no longer just a word, but something people can feel in their daily lives.
